Car Culture Will Emerge Stronger Than Ever

All the efforts of making public transport more culturally accepted in Malaysia is pretty much wiped clean with the pandemic. Public transport is about being confined in a small space with strangers for the sake of efficiency. That is the trade off that many are unwilling to do with the high risk of infection.

Furthermore, with work from home becoming the norm the road are less congested making private transport even faster. Worse, public transport frequency is less due to pandemic restrictions making public transport even slower. Thus, the gap is even wider.

People are also tired of being masked up all the time - being sweaty and prone to acne. On the other hand cars are the ultimate air-conditioned PPE so our own metal and glass bubble is the way to go.
