Distance is Needed to Evaluate
You can't see if you are too up close.
Why do companies like to do corporate retreat far away from the office? Other than simply burning money away, it might mean gaining critical distance required to asses the situation objectively.
It's hard to get a complete picture when you are deep in the picture carrying out day to day operation. Some exceptional people could maintain clarity at all times but most people can't. It's simply too overwhelming.
Stepping back is crucial. Only then you can see the business as whole rather than whatever part you are specializing each day.
