Blog is making a comeback as people are getting tired of social media.
Looks like Jason Fried had enough of social media and created his own personal corner on the web and a new blog service. It's very early stage right now with just him and David but I think it will be a full fledged service soon.
People want to blog as easy as they tweet and not all people wants to put in the effort of maintaining a stand alone blog engine. That includes career web developer as well. Which if you are one, probably you'll be fine with Hashnode for now.
